...we waste time. In a shocking development, I don't feel like working in AdvWritSem.
Anyway, my life's good. Yours? I don't care, but my comment section does.
Definitely a cool thing: I started an alternative school newspaper. I was kind of surprised at the number of people who were willing to help me write articles and whatnot. Pat had the same idea that I did and assembled his own crew. Naturally, he approached the superior power (i.e. me) and requested that we team up. We haven't really sat down and talked about it, but what'll probably happen is that the groups will alternate weeks and therefore kick twice as much ass. Printing and distribution will be a bitch, though, as we have no big fancy newspaper printers like the school does, and I doubt we'll be able to use the school's. I'm thinking we'll end up going for some kind of low-copy wide-distribution market. We'll probably set up a website as well. Hell, we could just do a blog. The newspaper format lends itself pretty well to being transformed into a series of posts.
Also a cool thing: I applied to the U of M and Iowa State. I also just got my U of M Honors Application, which means I'll have to write another essay (stupid National Merit Scholarship and its potentially giving me lots of money) and get a letter of recommendation. I'm going to ask Mr. Lenius to write the letter (seeing as I've had two semester classes with him and I still see him at least twice a week for KB/QB).
Another cool thing: This thesis statement for an essay that I wrote: "The MLA format is harmful because it destroys the flow of writing and forces the writer to divert focus from content (substance) to format (style). Its inventors and enforcers should be burned at the stake."
I hate the MLA format (Pyromania, "And now..." 2005).
